Basic gameplay[ | ]

You are a young God or Goddess who is attempting to attract followers and establish your worship throughout the world. You begin by inspiring a single disciple, who then attracts others to your worship. As your followers grow and more disciples champion your cause, you lead your flock to various villages where they can convert yet more followers away from the local religion, then from the religions on neighboring islands.

The Holy City[ | ]

Your followers establish a new city from which your worship will spread. You inspire them to add Buildings to the city that help your disciples grow in power and faith.

Disciples[ | ]

A few chosen of your followers become disciples and help spread your worship far and wide. You can inspire them and guide their growth; however, when the time comes for them to face the unbelievers, they act on their own based on the level of their faith, the abilities they have gained, and how their powers (stats) have developed. You guide them through rituals, daily blessings, various God actions, and dreams.

  • Rituals allow your disciple to improve one or more of their stats (e.g., health, devotion, might), they take a number of days to complete.
  • Daily blessings are small bonuses that you can give your disciple (e.g., ritual speed ups, small faith improvements, additional XP).
  • God actions take significant resources and provide larger bonuses.
  • Dreams give temporary buffs that improve their performance during religious combat.

As your disciples gain experience (XP), they have the chance perform a number of miracles, which gives them a significant growth spurt.

Missions[ | ]

After first establishing your religion, the game is broken up into an number of three day missions. Each mission is aimed at converting some group of non-believers; the missions provide the opportunities and resources to:

  • develop your religion by adopting various tenets and traditions,
  • develop your disciples, and
  • grow your holy city.

During the three days of preparation, you are given the chance to assign a ritual for each disciple and bless one or more disciples, give them dreams, as well as perform God actions that affect them.

After the days of preparation, comes one or more Sacraments; these are religious combats that pit three of your disciples against three of the opposition. The disciples act on their own through four rounds of combat in attempt to win converts through physical combat and morale persuasion; the better they perform, the more of the crowd is drawn to your side. Combat ends when more than half the crowd commits to you or your opponents. Winning the sacraments increase your followers, rewards your city with resources (materials and offerings), and development sparks, which are used to add tenets and traditions.

Goals[ | ]

The game takes place on a number of islands. Each island has a number of villages that must be won over using missions as well as side missions that just provide additional resources for city growth. Your followers have a set number of missions on the island and must convert the main city within that time.

The overarching goal is to win over six islands.

Creating a new deity[ | ]

God creation

Creation of a new god

At the beginning of a new game, players will have to create their god or goddess and customize the style and add a name of the deity.

Further more, players also can choose how the god will be addressed, how the religion will be called and what name the worshippers will have. Players also can apply a style and have three choices - Neutral - Dark - Light.

The look of the deity can be randomized or/and customized. This opens some more tabs with levers to adjust the look much further.

Players can change or add:

  • Wings
  • Arms
  • Hat
  • Eyes
  • Body
  • Head

Players also have four swatches to adjust the new deities colours.

After a short intro, players can choose from the commandments what is right (or wrong) and praised in their religion.
